TextStrip
Strip HTML tags and formatting from text. Paste below and hit the button. Everything runs in your browser; your text never leaves your computer.
Result
Remove formatting from Word, Google Docs and emails
Text copied from Word, an email or a web page rarely comes alone: fonts, colours, odd spacing and hidden markup travel with it. Paste it into the box above and TextStrip gives you back just the words.
For a quick paste, Ctrl+Shift+V (or Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac) pastes without formatting in most apps. That doesn't help with raw HTML code, where the tags are part of the text itself. That's what TextStrip is for.
FAQ
Does it remove all HTML tags?
Yes. Every tag is removed, along with the contents of script, style and head blocks that contain no visible text.
Will my line breaks and paragraphs survive?
With "Keep line breaks" on, paragraphs and headings are separated by a blank line, line breaks and blocks start a new line, list items get a bullet and table cells are separated by tabs. Turn it off to get one continuous line of text.
What happens to entities like & and ?
They're converted to the characters they stand for. Non-breaking spaces become normal spaces and invisible zero-width characters are removed.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. TextStrip runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and there's no length limit.
